We chose our rural town because of its close proximity to our families and also because the prestigious school district known for its education and athletics. For several years, our schools have been recognized by U.S. News and World Reports for being some of the best in the country. They rank high in academic testing, and each year several of the school teams will participate in state competitions.
There are never a lack of summer outdoor activities near our home. There are many miles of old railroad lines that have turned into biking, hiking and horseback riding trails. They are all well groomed and fun to be on, often seeing a lot of wildlife such as deer. A public golf course is very near.. We are also located 4 miles from a National Scenic Riverway, where we spend much of our summer canoeing and having picnics. No matter the season, there will always be ways for your child to have fun outdoors and get plenty of exercise.
There are also abundant winter activities. Cross-country skiing, showshoe trails, downhill skiing, ice fishing, snowmobile trails and sledding hills. The nearest skiing is at Trollhaugen, and in the photo Scott is helping Allison her first time out.
